to get some sort of private insurance to supplement or administer their Medicare, because Original Medicare, although good insurance alone, it may not
meet your need to cover costs of extensive healthcare services.

Medicare Insurance Options
There are (3) Three broad types of Medicare insurance available: Medicare Advantage plans, Medigap plans and Prescription Drug plans.
Medicare Advantage plans: generally have lower premiums
and often cover prescription drugs for a no or low monthly premium. If you had health insurance before you began Medicare, Medicare Advantage plans will seem
familiar. With Medicare Advantage plans, you will likely incur some co-pays when you use services.
Medicare Supplement also known as Medigap plans: With Medigap plans, you pay a much larger premium, but in most cases you pay nothing when you use
healthcare services. As of 2003 Medigap plans can no longer include drug coverage, so if you want Prescription Drug coverage you habe to choose one of those plans.
Standalone Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) or Part D: simply put a Standalone Prescription Drug Plan is used to cover your
prescription medications. That is the ONLY thing this plan will do.
