With a little planning, mealtime can seem effortless! The Crock-Pot® slow cooker brings modern style and convenience to your kitchen with its touchscreen, seamless polished stainless steel exterior and silicone-wrapped handles. Love it!

So, my old standard slow cooker that I got as a wedding present 12 years ago finally gave up the ghost. Time to find a new one. Of course, my tastes are more sophisticated now. And since this is my choice now I started looking at my options.

I checked the local Walmart and found a similar manually controlled, basic model. With the enameled exterior, you know, with the little flower design. It looked very cheaply made. The handles looked like they would last about 2 weeks. It cost more than I felt it was worth.

The newer digital models were nearby. They certainly looked better with a stainless exterior. I had been dissatisfied with the old standard model that did not have any timer feature. If you turn it on in the morning there is no way to turn it off automatically if you are out.

I purchased a Cuisinart model with a retractable cord. The first time I plugged it in the smell was horrible. It strongly smelled like burning wire. I was afraid it would catch fire. I took it back to the store. After all, this is an appliance that is designed to stay on for hours while you are might even be away from home.

So I headed to the nearest Bed, Bath and Beyond. I didn’t want to spend an arm-and a-leg but I did want something reliable and nice looking. They had several slow cookers to choose from in my price range. I paid about $120. Which was way more than I thought it would cost to replace my old one.

I decided on the Crockpot brand without a retractable cord after looking at several. My Crockpot has worked out wonderfully. I use it weekly without any problems. It is simple to use and the programming is convenient. NO more mushy, over-cooked dinners because I didn’t get home when I thought I would!

Set your cook time from 30 minutes to 20 hours. The digital timer will countdown the minutes and automatically switch the cooker to warm when cook time is up, keeping track of how long the unit has been in warm mode as well. Removable, dishwasher safe stoneware and glass lid double as a serving dish and make clean up a snap. Bonus cookbook included.

After looking at the other models I found the Crock-Pot® Touchscreen™ has great enhancements over other programmable models, including improved handle construction, a nicer seamless finish and the flexibility of setting the hours desired, as opposed to preset time controls. It cooks well and is easy to maintain making it a good slow cooker for family meals.
